On March 18th, 2024, Frederick Ballentine led an interactive Q&A session where he answered students’ questions about opera singing and the professional field of opera, explained the vocal mechanisms opera singers utilize in their craft, and taught some exercises and warmups to chorus students. He ended the presentation by performing a few minutes of Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Frederick Ballentine is a Grammy Award-winning opera singer. He has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, Seattle Opera, and LA Opera, and has toured in Berlin, Paris, and Bristol. In 2021, he received the Kennedy Center’s Marian Anderson award.
