Capturing Constructed Reality with Photographer David S. Allee

On March 28th, 2024, David S. Allee presented his portfolio from the beginning of his career to the present, discussed the different fields he works in, and answered questions from student photographers regarding his process, camera techniques, and journey to becoming a professional photographer. David S. Allee is a photographer based in New York City. Alleeā€™s photographs explore ways we perceive, imagine, and are influenced by the built environment. His photographs have been exhibited and published widely and are in the permanent collection of major institutions. His work has also appeared and been profiled in publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, Slate, Artforum, New York Magazine, The Village Voice, American Photography, among others. He received his MFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, where he was awarded the Ruttenberg Prize, and holds a BA in Economics and Government from Cornell University.
